Kapil Sharma’s old video comes at a time when Ranveer Allahbadia has been facing backlash for his recent comments on India’s Got Latent.
Amid the controversy regarding Ranveer Allahbadia’s recent comment on India’s Got Latent, an old comment from Kapil Sharma has surfaced on social media which has left many shocked. The joke was back from the days of Comedy Nights with Kapil when the actor-comedian was seen talking about two things Indians love – cricket and films.
During the episode, Kapil Sharma joked about children who are ready to even wake even at 4 am to watch a cricket match. In this context, he said, “Cricket ka match shuru hona that 4 baje, aur phir yeh ma baa ki kabaddi dekh ke so jaate hai (the match is to start from 4 am, so they watch their parents’ kabaddi and sleep)”.
Soon after Kapil’s video was shared online, several social media users reacted to it. While some argued that even Kapil’s comment was disappointing, others backed the comedian saying he did not use it in a vulgar way. “Kapil is witty and smart. Kabaddi could very well mean a fight between the parents. Kapil cracked a joke and left it to the audience’s interpretation. Ranveer capitalised, enunciated and underlined a bad joke in the name of dank comedy, just to project that he’s cool,” one of the users wrote on Reddit.

This comes at a time when Ranveer Allahbadia has been facing backlash for his recent comments on India’s Got Latent. Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, during a recent episode of the show, allegedly asked a contestant an inappropriate question involving body parts and proposed an indecent act in exchange for Rs 2 crore. The outrage peaked when he posed a controversial question: “Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join once to stop it forever?”
The comment left many shocked and disappointed. In no time, the video went viral on social media with many, including politicians and film personalities, condemning Allahbadia’s comment. Following the incident, a police complaint was filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina and several co-judges, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija.
While Ranveer has already apologised for his words, Samay also issued a statement on Wednesday night, revealing that he had deleted all of India’s Got Latent episodes from YouTube.
